Your Life Really Can Change in the Blink of an Eye
When Conner was a toddler, I had a great blog (if I do say so myself) titled Cars, Trucks, and Trains. The blog was, of course, about every great thing, and because it's Conner, not so great thing, he did. Back then, our life revolved around cars, trucks, and trains. Now, our life revolves around Conner battling cancer. It really is true when they say your life can change in the blink of an eye. We took him to Urgent Care because he was throwing up again, having just finished up 10 days of the flu. While he was there, we mentioned that my sister had noticed his leg was swollen and could they check it for us. Three hours later, the doctor walks in, shows us the x-ray, and says, "This is a growth. I called an old friend and made you an appointment at Brenner's tomorrow at 8 am with Oncology/Hematology." blink. My kid has cancer.
Conner has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma. He has a growth on his fibula and a few spots on his tibia. We are in the hospital this weekend, and he is starting his first chemotherapy treatment. Conner will have chemo for 10 weeks, surgery, and another round of chemotherapy.
Conner may be stubborn and bossy like his mom, but he is way braver than his mom. Bryan and I are so proud of him. We are also thankful for all the love and support we get from family and friends. Quite frankly, I didn't think this many people liked us! If you are reading this, thank you. If you are reading this, you love my son and care about my family, and that will help us help Conner kick cancer to the curb.
